Week 5: Time Flies!

Week 5: Time Flies! 😱😱 "Time has a wonderful way of showing us what really matters" -Anonymous πŸ‘» Hello friends and welcome to Week 5 of my blog. Wow, I feel as though 2021 just began and yet, time is moving quickly 😦 (I am very shooketh). How was your week? I think we will hopefully out of the January blues because February is a month to look forward to.  It's a good thing they're cute! But the cheese is so there!  There's Valentine's Day πŸ’‹πŸ’to all you romantics and lovers out there! I will definitely be watching those Hallmark Channel cheesy (the πŸ§€is very present and I love them) movies. Also, if you are living in Canada, there is another holiday called Family Day.  It is a fairly recent holiday that was put in the Canadian calendar because 1) February does not have any Civic holidays, and 2) we need to spend time more with our families (pre-pandemic and however you perceive a family to be).  Me going into my office next Monday I am looking fo...

Week 4: Perfect on the Outside But Broken on the Inside

Week 4: Perfect on the Outside But Broken on the Inside "Wounds are openings by which we enter other people's hearts, and by which they enter ours" - Jocelyn Soriano  "Andrea, you do things so flawlessly, you are the best"... "You're an angel"... "Professor, we're not like 'little miss perfect' like SHE is"... "Little miss perfect"... This is one label that I hide myself in every time I do something. Trying to be perfect in the sight of others. To get others to like me for the things I do and not who I am is still something I have struggled with for quite a while in my life. It is one of my many insecurities. I have hidden myself into this label for so long that I fell down the rabbit hole of striving to be perfect.  Many people know me for my smile. I love and enjoy smiling. I have been doing so ever since I can remember. In fact, there are great benefits to it. For example, some studies have shown that smiling ca...

Week 3: Class is Now in Session

Image
Class is Now in Session "You must believe in truth that whatever God gives or permits is for your salvation" - St. Catherine of Siena Hello dear friends! Sorry for the late post! Well, it has officially been a full week. What have you been doing, especially if you live in Ontario, Canada (lockdown and all)? It has been a productive and relaxing one.  Over this past weekend (sorry to my friends whom I didn't hang out with on Zoom), I thought I would spend time with my mom and brother by watching a very cool show on Netflix called Cobra Kai. I sort of wanted to get away from my typical lockdown weekend where I would stare at a screen either on a conference call or talking with friends, to even being on a date with a guy (yes, I am single, but that will probably be another blog). Not that there isn't anything wrong with that. I wanted to change it up this weekend. I haven't really spent time with my mom for a little while, even though we have been under lockdown fo...

Week 2: Everyone Has an Origin Story

Image
Everyone Has an Origin Story 🦸 "May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be" - St. Therese of Lisieux If you have ever read book, binged watched a television show or movie on Netflix, there is bound to an origin story to the main character's life, or even in the workings of a script. Look at Peter Parker (aka Spiderman). He was a nerdy, awkward teenager who got bitten by a radioactive spider from his best friend's dad's lab in New York City (for all my Marvel comic book loving people like myself). Well, you get the whole story of Spiderman, right? If not, hit that info up!  Hi beautiful people! Happy Sunday! Today in the Catholic Church, it is the feast day of the Baptism of the Lord Jesus Christ ! This marks the official (though it is debatable) ending to the Christmas season 😒. But it is okay because we are in a new year and new us (got what I did there?). Though I didn't get bitten by a radioactive spider or have magical jewels (Mir...

Week 1: New Year, New Me - Should we Make a New Line?

Image
"During this year I resolve to begin a new life. I do not know what will happen to me during this year, but I abandon myself entirely to you, my God" - St. Gemma GalganiπŸ™ We always here that punch-line once a new year roles in, don't we? New Year, New Me  πŸ’‍♀️. What does this mean to you? Well, especially what this past year brought, we can all use a new year. One guess is that 2020 was a crazy year and 2021 is a fresh start to our life. Right? Or maybe it is about making resolutions that go good for us in the beginning, but ends up falling through within a week or so (myself included). We feel as though we can take on the world by starting something new or carrying the something that you had in the previous year into the new one. We put on an expectation for ourselves that in order to do this, we will get something in return. That is further from the truth. Or it goes super well and it is a new thing in your life (kudos to those who stick it through!).  πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ (Not) ...
