Week 8 - Taking On Too Much??

Week 8: Taking On Too Much?? 😬

"We must trust in the mighty power of God's mercy. We are all sinners, but his grace transforms us and makes us new" - Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI

Hello friends! Sorry for the delay in writing this post for this week. But, Happy Wednesday! Thank you so much for being a part of this blog thus far. I really appreciate you taking the time and effort to read it.

Well, this week's post will a short and sweet one. Me and my mom are on this new life-style change for eating healthier because we both want to take care of our physical bodies. We joined Weight Watchers exactly 10 days ago. At first, we were both feeling very moody and fatigued because our bodies were adjusting to the new eating habits we were consuming into our bodies. But, it is a very healthy way to lose weight because it goes at your body's pace and there are coaches who help you keep track.

So far, I have lost 5 pounds. My mom has lost about 8 pounds. We are both feeling better and are being more aware of what we put into our bodies. I am super excited to journey with her in eating healthier. Please pray for both of us! We will reveal our weight loss when it is the right timeπŸ˜‰...stay tuned!

Before York Region moved into the Red Zone (Ontario practices of the COVID-19 pandemic), the Sunday, we wanted a change of scenery. We were sort tired of grocery shopping in Vaughan. My mom suggested we go to Superstore on Dufferin and Steeles in Toronto. We were very bold about this decision because Toronto is a hotspot for COVID. So, we honestly took that risk (sorry for breaking the rulesπŸ™ˆ).

We were both excited to go into this new grocery store because like she said to me in the car, "let's start fresh, like we did with our health. It's time". I have to give a little more props to the Weight Watchers app. One of the features is you can scan a barcode and it tells you how many points the product has. For example, a President's Choice Blue Menu Cheese is 1 point (per slice).

We were going nuts with this feature that we scanned practically everything in sight! It got to the point where I had to call back to my mom to say, "come here" (to the cart). When I think about it now, being on Weight Watchers kind of reminds me of something else in my life that is most important to me, my faith. We, as Catholics, are in the season of Lent. When I saw my mom scanning each item, I thought about how I was picking and choosing on what to "give up" or "add more" for Lent.

In this Lent thus far, I felt as though I have been taking on way too much "scanned" items for my way to holiness. I have bought so many devotionals and prayer books, that I have lost sight of what God is calling me to do during this time of Lent, be with Him. God is calling me to come back to my interior "cart" and ask Him where I need to grow, where I need to be.

Where I need to be is here. What to do is to open up space for the Lord to work through my mess, my brokeness. I am learning how to say no. I am learning day by day to be gentle with myself. I am learning more about myself everyday.

So, did you add or give up anything for Lent? Let me know in the comments. πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

Until next time (Sunday, I mean).
